Some outbound links on this site are affiliate links, including the ones on our Toolkit page and inside some blog posts. If you click one and go on to buy something, we earn a commission from the merchant at no additional cost to you. In some cases you also get a discount that is not available otherwise. This does not change what we recommend, and no company pays to be listed.
An affiliate link sends you to a third-party website. That merchant, or the affiliate network it works with, typically sets a cookie or adds a tracking identifier to the URL so the referral can be credited to us. From that point on, the merchant's own privacy policy governs how your information is collected and used, not this one. We have no control over their data practices, so it is worth reading their policy before you buy.
We do not receive your name, email address, payment details, or account information from any affiliate program. What we see is limited to aggregated reporting: that a referral converted, which product it was, and the commission earned. We cannot connect a purchase back to an individual visitor, and we do not attempt to.
You can avoid this entirely by going to the merchant's website directly instead of through our link, or by blocking third-party cookies in your browser. Nothing on this site requires you to use an affiliate link, and skipping it costs you nothing other than any discount attached to it.
We retain contact and inquiry data for up to 3 years, or for as long as necessary to fulfil the purpose it was collected for. Active client project data is retained for the duration of the engagement and up to 2 years after. You may request deletion of your data at any time by contacting us.
Under Canada's Personal Information Protection and Electronic Documents Act (PIPEDA), you have the right to access the personal information we hold about you, request corrections to inaccurate information, withdraw consent for its use, and request that we delete your data.
